As I started this MSN program, it seemed like graduation was unreachable. I felt inadequate and very overwhelmed as I wondered why I had signed up for this. As a single mother and full-time nurse manager, my time was limited before I began to further my education. Starting out, I was very self-conscious as a nurse, as I have been out of clinical nursing for seven years. I had found my passion of serving low-income, high-risk families in our community, but I did not know how my education could translate into practice. What I did have was faith and an unwavering determination to succeed that allowed me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. For once, I’m so glad I am extremely stubborn and persistent! Throughout my journey in the MSN Executive program, I learned the skills and gained the experience I needed to become the leader I always wanted to be. Thanks to the amazing professors and my outstanding advisor at Nebraska Methodist College, I have become a confident, educated nurse leader who is ready to take on a more advanced role. I plan on pursuing my passion of serving my community as a nurse executive, and I am ready to advocate, serve, and lead.
